6 Teton views you have to see for yourself.

Growing up in Southeast Idaho, the Tetons were only a short drive away from home, although, most of my time in Grand Teton National Park was spent in my 20s. There are dozens of views to enjoy of the picturesque mountain range. Here are 6 views that are some of my favorite:

1 - Blacktail Ponds

From Blacktail Ponds Overlook, take in the view of the Tetons with meadows, a creek and trees in foreground. Follow the trailhead from the overlook to explore. Take caution in the Tetons as it is bear (black and grizzly) country. Other wildlife can be seen as well including moose and elk.

2 - Jenny Lake

One of the most visited sites at Grand Teton National Park, Jenny Lake is surrounded by several connecting trails that branch through a canyon, to waterfalls, and other scenic views.

3 - Schwabacher Landing

A channel of the Snake River passes through Schwabacher Landing, a habitat perfectly suited for moose and beavers. When the water is calm, a reflection of the Tetons appears crystal clear. In the summers, the sun sets directly behind the tallest peak of the Grand Tetons.

4 - Mormon Row Historic District

These iconic barns and homes were settled by settlers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) in the late 1800s to 1900s. According to the National Park Service, “Leaders of [the church] sent parties from the Salt Lake Valley to establish new communities and support their expanding population.”

In 1997, the Mormon Row was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a Historic District.

5 - Teton Canyon Overview Observation Site

Along the road to Grand Targhee Ski Resort is an easily accessible overview of Teton Canyon. Nicknamed “the Idaho side” of the Tetons, this view offers a beautiful halo from behind the peaks in the morning, and illuminates the mountain range in an alpine glow at sunset.

6 - Snake River Overlook

This overlook of the Snake River with the Tetons in the background was first popularized by famous landscape photographer, Ansel Adams.
